I have lied.

I have cheated.

I have given my body and my life to the man who destroyed my family and left me for dead.

I have killed, I have sinned, and worst of all, I have enjoyed the misery of others.

I have licked the salty tears of a father mourning his firstborn son, and nothing has ever tasted so sweet.

I have died, and I have been resurrected, a phoenix from the ashes.

I know I’m going to hell. I’ll burn in the fiery pits alongside Dornan and his sons for the things I’ve done, and for the things I’m about to do.

But I don’t care. It will be worth every lick of the devils flames on my guilty flesh to destroy Dornan Ross.

One down, six to go.

Some people would call me a whore. A girl who sold her soul to the devil. Who let him inside her, with no remorse. Who danced with the monster who destroyed everything.

To those people, I say only this: I didn’t have to sell Dornan Ross my soul. He already owned it. And once I’ve killed him, maybe I can get it back.

When I think about life before Juliette Portland supposedly died, I think of the midday sun, and the way it caught the water, making a million tiny diamonds glisten in the VeniceBeach waves. I think of laughter and first kisses, of ice cream, stolen beer, and Ferris wheels.

I think of how much I loved Jason Ross, and how valiantly he fought to protect me when the rest of his family were beating and fucking me to within an inch of my life.

I think about my father, and how whenever he was near, I felt safe, no matter what.

I think about my mother, and how indifferent she was to my existence, to the point where my father was going to take me away from everything, including her, so that we could have a life free of the constant danger that a club like the Gypsy Brothers meant.

I think of how, if he had succeeded, what a wonderful life that would have been.

It’s true what they say—keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Only, they forgot to add: Don’t keep your enemies so close that they can strike without warning. That was my father’s mistake. That was our fatal undoing.

When I was planning my revenge, I vowed not to make the same mistakes he did. Allowing the enemy too close—Dornan was VP of the club, my father had been the President, but he had been quickly losing control as Dornan and his sons outnumbered him.

I vowed not to make the same mistakes my father did. But here, now, laying pinned beneath Dornan as he fills me with his rage and grief, his eldest son dead by my hand and the funeral in just a few hours, I have to wonder if I’m heading down the exact path that led to our destruction all those years ago.

“Cherry Tart” by Scarlett Jade: Book Blitz and Giveaway

Cherry Kilgore is a plus sized beauty who moonlights at a strip club and goes by the name Tart. She dances to have control over her body and chase away her demons, hiding behind a mask, the only thing that makes her feel free. She loves ’em and leaves ’em, never letting a man get too close. Until she meets a man one night that strips her bare with his electric green eyes.

“Kellan, I don’t attempt seduction. I succeed at it.”

Kellan Morgan is a playboy with a good heart, who loves a woman with real curves.  When he figures out that the woman hiding under her mask is worth revealing, he decides to play her game…A game that is full of pleasure, pain, going the distance and finally getting the ultimate prize…Realizing that love can truly be found in the darkest of places.

“You want to play games, my sweet little Cherry Tart? We’ll play games. How bad do you want it?”

“Don’t leave just because I’m here. Sit down and eat.” He pointed to the table and smiled, her core starting that annoying throb again.
“Nah, I’m done.” She turned to walk away.
“Wait, please, I feel like we got off on the wrong foot. Please, sit down with me. I just need to grab something, but I’d like to talk to you.”
She froze in place and weighed her options. “No thanks, I think it’s inappropriate.”
“Honey, bending you over this table and doing to you what I am thinking about is inappropriate. Lunch, however, is not.”
She flushed hot and looked over her shoulder, quickly. He smiled again, his white teeth flashing in his face. “Fine,” she shrugged, sitting back at the table. He grinned and took off for the food at the other end of the boring white cafeteria. Her pulse trilled in her throat as he walked back to her, his plate bearing a sandwich and an apple.
“Hey, so how about we start over?” He stuck his hand out and smiled beautifully, making her wince. “I’m Kellan, the guy you are definitely going to put a sexual harassment lawsuit against, I’m afraid. I just kind of can’t help myself. I’m not always like this.”
She sat up tall, her breasts sticking out as she gripped his hand. “I’m Cherr… Cher, and I find it hard to believe you’re not always like this.” She corrected herself quickly, pulling her hand out of his roughened grip and straightening her glasses.
He smiled at her, curiously, and sat down beside her, the chair putting him way too close to her.
“You know, Cher, you really remind me of someone… and really, I am not usually this forward.”
Her breath caught in her throat and she took a quick drink of her Pepsi, before murmuring, “Really? Do tell.”
He laughed softly and took a bite of his sandwich, the mustard squirting out onto his thigh. Before she thought, she grabbed her napkin and daubed at the stain, bending forward over his lap. “Um, I’m not going to last long with that visual, Cher.”
She squeaked in embarrassment and sat up rapidly. “Oh my God, I’m sorry; I didn’t think.” Her eyes flickered down to his crotch and went wide behind her glasses at the anaconda he rocked in his snug trousers. There is a motherfucking snake on this motherfucking plane. OH MY GOD.
