On January 14, 2025, the Spring Festival travel season officially began.
On this day, the total number of people moving across regions is expected to exceed 172.39 million, with China's railways expected to transport 10.3 million passengers. Amidst the bustling crowds, intelligent technologies are widely used, and passenger services are thoughtful and warm. Coordinated efforts ensure passengers' safety and smooth travel.
New lines and stations make their debut, expanding the railway network. In 2024, railway transportation saw steady progress, with a total of 3,113 kilometers of new lines being put into operation, including 2,457 kilometers of high-speed rail. By the end of 2024, the total operating railway mileage in China reached 162,000 kilometers, of which 48,000 kilometers are high-speed rail, setting a new record for the country's high-speed rail network.
To support the Spring Festival travel, railway capacity has been maximized. Prior to the Spring Festival, 185 new Fuxing EMU trains capable of speeds up to 350 km/h were put into service, significantly expanding transportation capacity. During the holiday season, CR will arrange around 14,000 passenger trains per day, adding 500,000 seats daily, representing a 4% increase in seating capacity compared to the 2023 Spring Festival travel season.
